Paynesville - Anniversary trip part 1

This is the first part of our road trip for mum and dad's 12th anniversary. We went to Paynesville, about 3.5hrs from Melbourne.

Paynesville was originally called Toonalook which is an aboriginal name for place of many fish. The Post Office opened on 8 November 1879 as Toonalook and was renamed Paynesville in 1886 by the Dickson family who still reside in the area.

We stayed at Allawah Caravan Park, which is very nicely situated at a waterfront! Arriving in the afternoon we had "Mr Pizza" margarita for dinner. Dad bought pickeled onions which apparently is a local speciality.

The day after, we took the ferry to neighbouring island (Raymond Island). The ferry trip wasonly about 10 minuts.

There were HEAPS of wild Koalas in the island! We drove around spotting them.

Then off we went towards Mt. Hotham...
