Andrew's haircut

Andrew took a haircut at Satria, dad's favourite barber since he was in school!

It was closed when we arrived to avoid the queue so we had a play at Lapangan Pancasila. After that we went for video games at Ramayana Plaza.

Selo Pass

Selo pass is a scenic mountain road between Boyolali and Magelang. It is built between mount Merapi and Mount Merbabu. WE

We left Salatiga very early in the morning to view the Sunrise at Ketep.

The view was breathtaking.

Arriving at Ketep.

Besides amazing scenery there is also Merapi Museum and theatre. The film about the volcano was amazing.

Eyang thought Ariel and Andrew how to do sports!

We saw a giant moth. Returning to Salatiga we stopped at New Selo. The cloud was hanging very low.

Shopping in Solo

After visiting Sangiran we drove to Solo. We parked at the nice Manahan square with it big Beringin Trees.

Then Mum and Eyang Kupu walked to the nearby souvenir market.

While Ariel and Andrew went on a becak circling the square.

On our way home we saw Mount Merapi under beautiful sunset.

Sangiran

Sangiran is an archaeological excavation site at the island of Java in Indonesia. The area comprises about 48 km² and is located in Central Java, about 15 kilometers north of Surakarta in the Solo River valley. In 1996 it was accepted as World Heritage by the UNESCO.

It's about 1 hour from Salatiga, driving through the villages.

Angkot

Andrew loves to ride the Angkot or "Angkutan Kota" .. or City Transport in English. We went to the city and back by using number 2.

Jogja

We went to Jogja to visit Eyang Kuka's house when he grew up.

The house is traditional Javanese building and is very old. There were paintings of Eyang Kuka when he was young and also Ariel and Andrew's great-grandma (Eyang Sontoirono or "Mbah Jogja")

What a great timing as the Rambutans were full! But there were lots of ants!

As usual Andrew loves to play with the door. Then we did "nyekar" at great-grandma.

We visited "Taman Pintar", a scientific exhibition near Malioboro.

Our place when staying in Jogja, the GKI guest house. Before returning to Salatiga we had lunch at Pizza Hut.

Borobudur

Borobudur, or Barabudur, is a 9th-century Mahayana Buddhist monument near Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia. The monument comprises six square platforms topped by three circular platforms, and is decorated with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues. A main dome, located at the center of the top platform, is surrounded by 72 Buddha statues seated inside perforated stupa.

It is truly an incredible structure. It took real effort to get to the top!

How the rubber trees are sap

Dad took Ariel on a motorbike ride to see how the rubber trees are sap.

Can you believe they become baloons and tyres!
