Downhill cycling at Lavaux

After dad's work we went to Lavaux to do downhill cycling.










We took the bikes by train to Grandvaux station










Grandvaux is high on top of the mountain so we just rolled downhill. The view of the vineyards are amazing. They even have grapes grown on houses!










We frequently stopped to enjoy the night scenery. The braking was hard on some of the steep parts.










It was fun!










Then we took the bus number 9 Lutry back to St Francois. Then again downhill to Mont d'Or. Almost dark by that time at around 10pm.

Lavaux Express

We took a small train, the Lavaux Express which goes from Lutry to the top of Lavaux. It is a wine-growing region 30 minutes from Lausanne and the vines are blossoming....










From Lausanne the train went to Lutry. Then we walked down to Lutry-port. We found this tree with sharp fruits like a rambutan. And then wehad lunch at Lutry-port while waiting for the Lavaux Express train.










it is a very high climb to Grandvaux. absolutely beautiful.










Then we stopped in the middle of a very steep hill to sample the local wine. It was very nice.










You can remember here how steep the winery location is.










On the way back we went through the alleys to buy some petit fours at the local shop. (petit fours means "little treats" in french!!)

Montreux by boat

We went to Montreux by boat. It went from Lausanne's Ouchy to St. Gingoloph - Le Bouveret - Villeneuve - Chillon - Territet - Montreux.











Our bus stop in front of the apartment, Mont d'Or. Andrew remembers the bus very well... it's 6 Sallaz ! Then stopping at St Francois.










The view at St. Francois. From there we went to Ouchy to buy the boat tickets.










We waited for the ship to arrive at 12:30pm and soon we were off on our way!



















Very nice views from the boat. It was about 1.30 hours long cruise. The lake's water was turquoise green due to the minerals from glacier and sun reflection.










The Swiss Alps are covered in snow although it's summer.










Montreux is a beautiful city by the lake.










Yummy margarita pizza was for lunch. Then we went to the train station. Andrew posed in front of our train, taking us back to Lausanne.

Cycling around Ouchy

We went cycling after dad got home from work. Thanks to summer, the days are long!

Ouchy is beautiful and busy. This was around 7pm after "Ben Ten"










Rented pedal boat for half an hour and then cycled some more










Andrew had fun observing the boats and cities across the lake in France. On the way back we found very interesting miniature display at "Lausanne Gare" (station)

Around Lausanne with Andrew

Mommy and Ariel had a flu so we went out taking bus #2 stopping at Lausanne Flon and rode the tram to Ouchy. Andrew had a mango ice cream !
